Bavaria was the destination of many holidaymakers last year.
The overnight stay figures show: Interest is almost back to the level it was before the corona pandemic.
Fürth – Franconian Switzerland, the Eibsee, Nuremberg, the Königsee: There are some beautiful spots in Bavaria that are ideal for a vacation.
The Free State actually has everything to offer, from untouched nature to picturesque old towns.
And holidaymakers from all over Germany now also appreciate this.
Bavaria is and remains a popular holiday destination, as figures from the Bavarian State Office for Statistics now prove.
100 million overnight stays in Bavaria – almost as many as in the record year 2019
In 2023, almost 39 million tourists came to Bavaria and there were 100 million overnight stays, according to the state office.
This means that almost as many guests vacationed in Bavaria last year as before the corona pandemic.
The number is almost close to the record number from 2019: At that time there were only just under a million arrivals and 600,000 more overnight stays.
In 2023, German tourists will also make up the clear majority of the total number of tourists, at 80 percent.

Tourism: Holiday homes and campsites increasingly popular
However, there are differences depending on the tourism business: holiday homes and campsites were much more popular than inns and guesthouses.
The latter even recorded a decline in overnight stays.
With 18.6 million overnight stays, the state capital Munich clearly leads the ranking of the most popular places to stay overnight.
Behind them are other large cities such as Nuremberg, Augsburg and Regensburg.
But Bad Füssing in Lower Bavaria, Oberstdorf and Füssen in the Allgäu, Bad Kissingen in Lower Franconia and Garmisch-Partenkirchen were also well attended.
