This Sunday, while inaugurating the new Adidas Arena in the La Chapelle district (18th century), the mayor (PS) of Paris addressed Parisians to invite them to stay in the capital during the Olympic Games.
“Paris is going to be magnificent, don’t leave Paris, that would be bullshit!”

The inauguration of this brand new infrastructure, 8,000 seats in basketball configuration as is the case this Sunday, is for Anne Hidalgo “the beginning of the beginning of the magic of the Olympics”.

Also present this Sunday, the Minister of Sports and Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, for her part praised “the impetus that the Olympics can give to transformations”, in reference to the Chapelle district, one of the most deprived in Paris.
During the Olympics, badminton and rhythmic gymnastics events will take place there.
A brief demonstration of undocumented immigrants
Between July 26 and August 11, the Olympic Games will notably generate numerous traffic restrictions in the city, where doubts and questions remain about the organization of the event and the constraints it will create, less than six months before the start of the tests.
Just before the arrival of the mayor of Paris for a tour of the building, a demonstration of undocumented immigrants briefly took place in front of the new facility, called “Adidas Arena” under a naming contract.
“No papers, no Olympics,” chanted the demonstrators.
Nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of those responsible for the new Arena.
“We've been dreaming about it for four years, we've been working on it for four years,” rejoiced Nicolas Dupeux, general director of the Arena, also operator of the Accor Arena in Bercy and the Bataclan.
The inauguration preceded an afternoon of entertainment for Parisian families, as well as the first match of the resident club, Paris Basketball, which faces Saint-Quentin this Sunday evening.
