The Bergkirchen-Schwabhausen parish community has ceremoniously said farewell to pastoral officer Walter Hechenberger.
Many visitors came, including Hechenberger's former boss.
Bergkirchen/Schwabhausen – A week after Pastor Albert Hack, Pastoral Officer Walter Hechenberger also said goodbye to the Bergkirchen-Schwabhausen parish community at a Liturgy of the Word celebration in Sankt Johann Baptist.
An extremely large number of visitors came.
The service was accompanied musically by “A Handful of Music”, supported by vocal performances by the Wernthaler family.
The liturgy leaders who have accompanied Hechenberger over the past few years were involved in the celebration.
Sometimes they took on readings, sometimes they formulated their own thoughts.
Hechenberger's former boss, the long-time pastor Albert Hack, arrived
Hechenberger's long-time "boss" Albert Hack came especially from Oberammergau for this purpose.
The guests of honor included the mayors of Bergkirchen and Schwabhausen, Robert Axtner and Wolfgang Hörl, who thanked them on behalf of the municipalities.
As before, Hechenberger will be based in the parish office in Schwabhausen.
He is looking forward to his new task, the management of the new funeral pastoral for the Dachau district.
It is a task that he would like to dedicate himself to.
And working as a grief counselor is not new to him.
Hechenberger's areas of responsibility included Liturgy of the Word celebrations, Confirmation preparation, star singing campaigns, altar boys' trips, senior campaigns, participation in committee meetings, "and above all his personal presence" were the focus of his work, emphasized administrative manager Florian Preiße.
“Thanks to Walter Hechenberger’s personal and empathetic commitment, the community members felt supported by comfort, confidence, strength and blessing.”
In kindergarten he was called “Pasti Walter”, an address that also became a habit for many parents.
The parish association is complying with his request and will contribute to the equipment for its new office, said Preiße.
Advisory and accompanying work also needs a suitable environment and he would like comfortable seating there.
At the end, “A Handful of Music” serenaded him with personally composed verses to the melody of “Mein Gott Walter”.
