There are countless types of pasta and at least as many possible combinations.

Pasta is the savior in times of need when the fridge is yawningly empty and your stomach is already growling.

Before they finally become a delicious dish with pesto, vegetables, a cream sauce or a little fresh Parmesan, the pasta must first be cooked to perfect al dente.

The majority of hobby chefs use the tried and tested method when cooking pasta and put the pasta in a pot with plenty of boiling water, whereby heating the water takes a few minutes.

However, it should be quicker with cold water - an insider tip that apparently saves not only time but also water and therefore already has convincing advantages.

But how does the food hack work for all pasta lovers?

Pasta is cooked quickly and easily with cold water 

The cold water method for pasta is explained in just a few steps.

A pot can be used for preparation, but the pasta can also be cooked in a cast iron pan:

  • Place desired amount of pasta and a generous pinch of salt in a large pot or skillet.

    Add cold water until the pasta is covered with water by about two to three centimeters.

  • Set the stove to medium heat.

    As soon as the water boils, reduce the heat so that the water is just simmering.

  • Simmer pasta, stirring occasionally, until al dente or desired doneness, about 5 minutes.

    Combine and enjoy as desired, for example with a creamy salmon cream sauce.

  • Simple Tasty Tip:

    If you need a large amount of pasta water to prepare the sauce, it is better to cook the pasta in the well-known way.

    The cold water cooking method leaves only a little pasta water left over.
