Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs sent a sharp letter today (Sunday) to the legal advisor to the government Gali Beharev Miara, stating "it is not your authority to cancel government decisions".
This, after Rabbi Miara criticized the manner in which government decisions are made.
Fox continued and wrote: "There is also no reason for a court to cancel a proper government decision, which was made to help the reservists who served in the Iron Swords War and to relieve the construction crisis."
In the letter of criticism sent this morning to the government secretary, the ombudsman referred, among other things, to the decision of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf, which was approved at last week's cabinet meeting on the importation of foreign workers. The decision was not on the government's agenda, and was approved despite objections from legal counsel .
"The government did its job faithfully, discussed the proposal that was brought before it, exercised judgment and introduced the appropriate changes for the sake of reservists and to prevent a future housing crisis," Fox claimed in the letter.
"This is the government's authority and this is its responsibility."
