The general meeting of the Irschenberg fire department, which took place at the Kramerwirt with 50 participants, provided an opportunity to look back and say thank you.

In addition to some local council members, district fire councilor Anton Riblinger was also at the meeting.

Irschenberg – Chairman Max Simbeck gave a detailed review of the past year.

Among other things, he highlighted the family day for active members in August and the open day in October as special events.

The number of members is encouraging.

The association currently has 442 members, 57 of whom are actively involved - 15 of whom are women.

There are also 22 active members of the youth fire department, which also includes two girls.

The reports from the secretary and the former commander Tom Niggl, who was replaced by Josef Erhart in January, also offered an informative all-round view.

Niggl looked back on the past 18 years as commander and reported above-average deployment numbers in 2023. Last year, 241 deployments were recorded.

At the top are 201 technical assistance operations, followed by 27 fire operations, two with NBC hazardous substances and two security guards.

The rest goes to other things.

A total of around 1,500 hours of operation were totaled.

Increasing deployment numbers

This level was not always so high.

Ten years ago, according to Niggl, Irschenberg's number of appearances was 200 - until 2016. Then they went down to 112 appearances in 2020. "Since 2021, they have been increasing again." A development that puts more strain on the team, but also give her more experience.

We also trained diligently.

73 exercises were carried out in 2023, which, according to Niggl, means almost 2,000 hours.

There were also twelve courses in which 53 fire department members took part.

While Mayor Klaus Meixner emphasized the importance of the fire department for the community, district fire officer Riblinger reported on upcoming challenges, including digital alerting.

Some fire departments have already ordered their devices - they should be delivered in the spring.

Irschenberg will follow here.

Since the current system will run in parallel at the start of digital radio until the changeover is smooth, there is no time pressure yet.

Honors and promotions

Afterwards, honors and promotions were on the agenda.

Katharina Maier, Lucia Thrainer and Leonie Wolf were appointed firefighters, Sophie Kleinschwärzer was appointed senior firefighter, Florian Bernrieder, Tobias Huber and Kilian Klinke were appointed senior firefighters, Max Auracher was appointed fire chief and Max Simbeck was appointed chief fire officer.

Several comrades were honored for milestone anniversaries of their active service: Martin Kreitner for 30 years, Thomas Steinberger for 20 years and Michael Schrödl and Max Simbeck for ten years.

Josef Steingraber was given a special honor.

He was made an honorary member in gratitude for his 17-year commitment to the board.

The New Year also has some highlights to offer.

The Irschenberg fire department - like its comrades in Schliersee - is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

Preparations here are already in full swing.

Chairman Simbeck also appealed to his members to continue to live the strong community spirit: “One for all, all for one.”
