The anticipation of the Moorenweiser carnival parade, which only takes place every four years, was worth it: 55 imaginative walking groups and elaborately designed motto floats paraded through the streets in front of dense rows of spectators, making it rain sweets and spreading a good atmosphere.

It remained dry while the Gaudiwurm organized by TSV ran its two planned rounds through the town.

At the head was club chairman Hubert Leib, followed by three skilled penny-farthing drivers and a “shame arm” in an old-fashioned uniform. The first part of the procession belonged to the foot groups, who came up with highly creative ideas.

The neighborhood help employees dressed up as fortune tellers with oversized crystal balls.

“Because we don’t know what will happen next with care and what our future looks like,” said Gerti Riedl-Steininger, explaining the choice of topic.

But they don't want to let that spoil their mood, especially since the club is celebrating an anniversary this year - it's 40 years old.

The ladies looked great in black robes, with specially sewn gold-colored scarves and professionally made up by a specialist.

“At some point it’s time for everyone,” says this trio.

This also applied to a private group led by the Moorenweiser Scheidl family, which had chosen the unusual topic of bed bugs.

A giant replica of the unwanted insects in the front, a bed decorated with the bugs behind - a reference to the bed bug alarm during Paris Fashion Week last fall.

Bad omens for the 2024 Olympics?

Who knows.

In any case, the Scheidls and their friends weren't cold in their padded cockroach costumes.

Stefanie Vogt from Dünzelbach and her friends discovered a rusty ship's swing months ago in an acquaintance's garden.

The swing was prepared and painted and became a real eye-catcher on the group's Pumuckl wagon, especially since one participant dared to make high swings in it.

The goblin's bed was also a must - and in it was a redhead in appropriate costume.

Politics also got its fat removed - from large to municipal.

The members of the Reserv Bar Club (RBC) had transformed themselves into candles with red capes and yellow headgear and were pulling a “mobile enlightenment station” behind them because “the politicians in our place are not the brightest candles on the cake.”

Among other things, allusions were made to the demolition of the old school, the lunchtime care and the multi-purpose hall, which were allegedly “wasted”.

Aren't the local politicians the brightest candles on the cake?

A private group led by Deputy Mayor Rudi Keckeis dealt with the issue of gender, from which even the seven dwarves in the deep forest are no longer safe.

The town hall deputy had dressed up as Snow White, sorry, “Gender White”, and his wife Martina had dressed up as an evil stepmother.

With a deceptively realistic replica of an S-Bahn carriage, the Moorenweis Catholic Boys' Association complained about another current nuisance - the many train delays ("If your life always goes according to plan, you rarely ride the Deutsche Bahn").

The carnival procession itself, however, ran smoothly.

“We are satisfied,” said René Löfflath on behalf of the organizers.

“We were particularly lucky with the weather.”

A carnival parade also took place in Gernlinden on Carnival Sunday.
