The Penzberg Jiu-Jitsu and Karate School Association has two new black belts in its ranks: Rudolf Harrer and Matthias Welzer successfully passed the 1st Dan Idokan Zen Do Karate exam.
Penzberg - The two aspirants had prepared extensively, according to a statement from the club.
Rudolf Harrer and Matthias Welzer demonstrated both Kata and Kihon as well as the partner exercises (Jiyu Ippon-Kumite) and free fighting (Jiyu-Kumite) with high dynamics and kime (karate term for energy).
The two also mastered self-defense (Goshin-Kumite) brilliantly.
At the end of the test, the two Penzberg martial artists had to complete a breaking test and demonstrate their knowledge of theory.
Both had made the most of their intensive preparation time and impressed the examiners, Hanshi Rudi Gabert and Renshi Josef Holzmann, with a brilliant performance and deservedly received their 1st Dan graduation.
In 1989 the dojo became an independent club
The club looks back on almost 50 years of tradition.
In 1975, the Dojo Penzberg was founded as a new division of the DJK Penzberg sports club.
In 1989 it became an independent non-profit association as the Penzberg Jiu-Jitsu and Karate School.
Headmaster Rudolf Gabert (9th Dan) is a nationally and internationally renowned course leader, trainer for Budo teachers and examiner for students and master degrees.
Gabert has received high awards and the Federal Cross of Merit for his commitment, particularly to Japanese martial arts.
The school regularly organizes large courses and is involved in charity seminars.
