On Ragged Thursday there was a scandal at the carnival parade in Landsberg.

Members of the Hohenfurch rural youth chanted “Foreigners out!”

Landsberg / Hohenfurch – Colorful, loud, happy: That’s how carnival should be.

And that's how we know the carnival parade on Ragged Thursday in Lechstadt.

This year it wasn't quite like that: the song “L'Amour toujours” was played on the Landjugend Hohenfurch car - to which the members of the Landjugend loudly chanted “Foreigners out!”

The Landsberg police have already received a report.

“We came to know about the incident through a video this morning.

And we strongly condemn this,” says the chairman of the Landsberg Carnival Association Licaria Thomas Bihler, also a member of the Elferrat.

This is “not a stupid boy prank”.

Right-wing extremism is not accepted, “it is absolutely unacceptable.”

The club and also the Elferrat absolutely called for active action against extremism.

“We stand by our fellow foreign citizens,” many of whom were also involved in the carnival.

The association has already spoken to the Hohenfurch rural youth group and excluded them from moving next year.

The board of the rural youth Hohenfurch Moritz Taufratshofer is audibly contrite on the phone.

“I sincerely apologize on behalf of the rural youth.” Something like that is absolutely not tolerated: “None of those on the car want something like that.

None of us in the club are xenophobic: that’s not us, that’s not the club.”

Taufratshofer also describes the incident again: “We played this song, 'L'Amour toujours', in the original version.

But then, as in the videos that are currently circulating on social media and that people also know, the people on the car sang along with the calls for foreigners to get out.

But certainly not one with bad intentions.” But of course they would have to bear responsibility for it.

He will now talk to the club members about the topic before every carnival parade so that something like this doesn't happen again.

The head of the Landsberg police station, Thomas Rauscher, informs us that a complaint has already been received against the Hohenfurchers.

“We are starting from the initial suspicion of incitement to hatred,” said Rauscher.

We will consult with the Fürstenfeldbruck criminal police and then inform the public prosecutor's office.

“We also want to address the club and send a warning to organizers where the Hohenfurchers are still taking part.

Something like this simply shouldn’t happen.”

Uproar at the Gaudiwurm in Landsberg: Hohenfurch rural youth shouting “Foreigners out” – Suspicion of incitement?

The public prosecutor's office will then determine to what extent there is incitement to hatred.

According to information from two lawyers, chanting “Foreigners out!” does not automatically constitute sedition.

According to state security services and public prosecutors, this is an “initial suspicion of incitement to hatred”.

The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe ruled in one case that the slogan alone did not violate human dignity.

In contrast, the Magdeburg regional court convicted a defendant of sedition in August 2017 because he chanted the slogan “foreigners out” at a demonstration.

The fact that "Foreigners out!" is chanted to the song "L'Amour toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino at several events and in discos became known primarily through the incident at the disco in Greding, Central Franconia, in January, among other things AfD members chanted to the song “Germany for the Germans, foreigners out”.

In Hesse, the state security agency is already investigating a similar case.

The Landsberg police draw a positive conclusion about the accident-free Lupido parade - “even if some events cloud the picture,” said police director Thomas Rauscher.

The police estimate 8,000 to 9,000 visitors, slightly fewer than in 2023. The event at Hellmairplatz in particular was well attended.

According to the police, up to 600 mostly younger people celebrated on the west bank of the Lech due to the lack of a tent on the Waitzinger Wiese.

It was necessary to “intervene briefly in a few cases” to prevent arguments.

Five assault offenses were reported.

Since it was difficult to determine the facts “due to the alcoholism” of those involved, the investigation was still ongoing.
