First the owner stands in front of the camera, then he doesn't even want to show himself anymore: he reports from the closed shop with a bitter decision.

Barnstorf – Bike & Garden Bobrink, as a local company in Barnstorf (Diepholz district/Lower Saxony), usually sells or repairs everything for bike and garden enthusiasts.

More than a dozen employees ensure this.

The homepage lists 14 of them, plus dog Rocky (“safety officer”) and dog Jack (“team manager”).

But in the meantime the store no longer sells anything.

The reason is a nasty flu epidemic that is rampant in the team.

Barnstorf: Everyone is lying flat!

Bike & Garden Bobrink has to close

Employees being sick happens in every company, including retail.

In most cases, day-to-day business can still be maintained in emergency mode.

Not so with Bobrink.

Owner Thorsten Bobrink kept his customers up to date with several Facebook postings.

On February 8th it was already said: Nothing works anymore!

He had to do something “that I have never done before: unfortunately I have to close the shop.

I'm just sick this morning because of the flu, the flu is probably going around right now." The shop remained closed on February 8th.

And it should stay that way from Friday through the weekend, as another video showed.

In the first, owner Thorsten Bobrink appeared himself and explained the closure for just under a minute.

Unusual: In the second one he didn't even want to be filmed himself; he probably didn't feel very presentable because he was ill.

Instead, he only films the entrance area.

“As you can see, the place is dark.

Nobody wants to see me either because that’s a situation that’s not nice at the moment.”

“I have all the employees sick in bed”

Bobrink complains that “all of the employees are sick in bed.”

“I wish them a speedy recovery with all my heart.” It is “the right decision that I keep the shop closed.

Above all, it is important to us that we do not infect you because the virus is apparently extremely hard.

We'll lie down in bed or on the sofa and hopefully get well." The plan is to be back on February 12th.

A closed shop that everyone knows locally: This is of course a big topic of conversation locally.

This is also reflected in the fact that the videos are shared in a Facebook group for Diepholz.

Many are keeping their fingers crossed.

“It's going around everywhere at the moment.

It hit us too.

Get well soon,” it says.

Or “Good and quick recovery.” Of course there is understanding for the closure.

“The decision is to be highly commended.” We agree with the wishes for improvement.

A Rewe note from Hamburg recently also became a topic of conversation on social media.
