Readers of the Dachauer Nachrichten donated almost 150,000 euros.

The Dachauer Nachrichten's Chain of Helping Hands fundraising campaign takes stock: readers donated 149,000 euros.
District - Inflation, rising energy prices, uncertain world situation, dissatisfaction with politics in Germany: It is absolutely understandable that everyone is trying to keep their money together.
But the result of the donations from the Chain of Helping Hands shows that there are many people who don't just think about their own well-being.
Last year, many readers again donated to people for whom fate was not so kind.
149,000 euros were raised last year.
Money that is needed more urgently than ever before.
Even families who live in relative prosperity are noticing that it's not just food and heating that are becoming more expensive, but everything.
People who live at the subsistence level can no longer afford many things.
Not to mention if a stroke of fate, an emergency or an illness occurs.
Stroke of fate, illness, emergency
As in the case of the 37-year-old woman from Dachau, who suffers from endometriosis and has lived in a constant state of pain for many years.
The health insurance company does not pay for the recommended physiotherapy or special foods.
The chain of helping hands was able to provide a little support here.
Just like in the case of the twin sisters from Hilgertshausen, who became orphans after their mother died.
So that they could stay in their house, the Chain of Helping Hands gave a grant for the urgently needed heating renovation.
In the case of the major fire in Sulzemoos, donations were received into the Chain of Helping Hands account for the affected family, who had lost all their belongings, and were forwarded to the family in an unbureaucratic manner so that they could quickly be provided with the bare necessities.
In addition, the employees of Dachauer Nachrichten are in contact with social aid organizations all year round.
From these conversations we know that the number of people desperately asking them about smaller amounts of money is increasing.
More and more desperate people
Often there is no money to pay an electricity or heating bill, for a new washing machine because the old one broke, for winter shoes, a warm jacket, or a wardrobe.
Not to mention Christmas presents for children, going to a concert or going on a trip.
To give a few examples: A single mother of three children had to separate from her violent husband.
Due to illness, she has to go to the hospital from time to time, and the children are then with their mother.
She lives on citizen's money.
Or a mentally ill 46-year-old and single parent of three children who received a grant for car repairs.
The number of teachers who contact the local newspaper directly and ask for a subsidy for school camp for students is also increasing.
Thanks to the loyal donors
It would go too far to list all the individual cases in which people were supported - people who would lack the most basic necessities without donations.
And the donations also benefit numerous projects run by social organizations in the Dachau district.
Not a single cent is used for administrative or office work, as the Dachauer News team does this work on the side.
The local newspaper would like to thank its generous readers, without whom all the help and support would not be possible.
