The rock band AC/DC last gave a concert in Nuremberg in 2015.

Now the long wait is over: the musicians are coming to Franconia as part of their tour.

Update from February 12th:

AC/DC is going on tour again in summer 2024 and will play nine concerts in Germany.

The musicians from Australia announced this on Monday.

The band around guitarist and founder Angus Young (68) wants to perform on their “Power Up” tour between May and August in Gelsenkirchen, Munich, Dresden, Hockenheim, Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Hanover.

Advance sales begin on February 16th.

It's the first time AC/DC has toured in almost eight years.

Last year, the rock icons made their stage comeback at a festival in the USA after a seven-year break.

Rumors about a tour had been going on for a long time.

Last week, AC/DC fueled speculation with a countdown on their website (see initial report).

In addition to guitarist Angus Young, who always appears in school uniform, and long-time singer Brian Johnson, the “Power Up” tour will feature rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, who followed band founder Malcolm Young, who fell ill in 2014 and died in 2017.

New members include former Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Matt Laug, who performed with AC/DC at the "Power Trip" festival last year.

Mysterious AC/DC countdown “Torture” for fans: concert planned in Nuremberg?

First report from February 8th

: Nuremberg – AC/DC fans worldwide are not having quiet nights right now.

Since Tuesday (February 6th), the band has been publishing a mysterious countdown on their Instagram account.

The first post was just the AC/DC blitz, asking “Are you ready?”

Almost 6,000 comments were collected: “Sounds like a tour”, “I pray that there is a tour”, “We are waiting for you”.

And things could also get serious for fans in Nuremberg.

The rock band may also perform in the Franconian metropolis.

Just a few days ago, another world star, Adele, announced that she would be playing several concerts in Munich.

Since then, advance ticket sales have kept the whole of Bavaria on tenterhooks.

The second post on Wednesday (February 7th) shows a “5” and the characteristic lightning bolt again, followed by the “4” on Thursday (February 8th).

The band is still keeping their fans pretty much in the dark with the mysterious countdown.

What is already known is that AC/DC will most likely perform in Munich on June 12th.

Munich's Mayor Reiter had blurted this out.

Marco Meierhöfer, who is considered the administrator of the German AC/DC forum, also published tour dates in Germany.

He lists concerts in Munich on June 9th and 12th and a concert at the Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg on July 27th.

Last countdown day is Sunday: After that, possibly an announcement

Based on the rhythm of the posts, it should be announced next Monday what fans can look forward to.

AC/DC may then officially announce their tour dates.

Until then, rock music fans will have to be patient.

This isn't easy for some people, as comments on Instagram show:

  • “Oh my God, I can’t take it anymore.”

  • "I can not sleep anymore"

  • “I’m not sure my nerves can handle it for another four days.”

  • "This is torture"
