Faced with floods, hospitals are not immune.
This Sunday, a hospital located in Arès (Gironde) was partially flooded.
Around fifteen centimeters of water infiltrated the ground floor, a first since 2009 according to AFP.
Consequence: around ten patients were moved to upper floors, some of them were even transferred to the Arcachon hospital center, according to France Bleu Gironde.
The authorities have triggered the White plan, a crisis management system.
“The emergency department and surgery had to be redeployed to the establishment,” Xavier Daney, mayor of Arès, explained to AFP on Sunday.
The councilor said he hoped for a return to normal “in two days”, once the establishment was cleaned.
Postponed operations
On Sunday, France Bleu reported the temporary closure of the emergency room at the Wallerstein private hospital until Monday evening.
“We no longer have medical imaging and have decided to postpone the surgical procedures for Monday and Tuesday,” Bernard Judet de la Combe, the director of the establishment, explained to Sud-Ouest on Sunday morning.
A total of around sixty operations, completes France Bleu.

Firefighters intervened to evacuate the water using a sewer truck.
“The municipality brought in a private company to create a rampart and secure the second tide,” Arès town hall said on Facebook.
Gironde was placed on orange alert for flood risks by Météo France.
The meteorological agency lowered the alert to yellow level this Monday afternoon.
The department was also concerned by an orange alert for waves-submersion this weekend.
