Peanut butter is delicious for more than just humans.
Even local birds can't resist the charm.
But the ingredients differ significantly.
Every animal has its own treat: not only do people like peanut butter, it is also very popular with local birds - titmice, sparrows and robins in particular enjoy the high-fat nutritional food.
In contrast to the seasoned finished product from the supermarket, peanut butter must not contain any salt, sugar or other unnecessary additives.
In addition, the nuts are not roasted.
If you don't want to look for a suitable product, you can make your own peanut butter with a minimum of ingredients.
Ingredients for the bird peanut butter

Peanuts contain a lot of protein, fat, minerals and vitamins that provide the birds with energy and keep their immune systems healthy.
For this reason they are often found in bird food mixtures.
The peanut butter serves the same purpose, but has the advantage of keeping the feeding area clean - this is particularly ideal for the balcony.
The finished peanut creams for birds contain, for example, tallow, corn flour, peanut flour and rapeseed oil.
Depending on the birds' preferences, berries, sunflower seeds or insects are also added.
Homemade peanut butter consists of these ingredients:
600 g broken peanuts
200 g beef tallow (from the butcher)
120g corn flour
1 dash of rapeseed or sunflower oil, if desired
In cold winters, adding cooking oil makes the peanut butter a little softer and doesn't crumble as quickly - but also makes it melt more easily in stronger sunlight.
If you want, you can add a few raisins or other dried berries for soft food eaters such as blackbirds or robins.

Making peanut butter and hanging methods
Grind the peanut curds very finely in a food processor or blender.
Melt the suet in a saucepan over low heat.
First stir in the ground peanuts, then the cornmeal and a dash of oil if desired.
Pour the mixture into suitable screw-top jars.

There are special holders and feeders for the bird peanut butter - it is important that the jars are attached horizontally or upside down and that the birds are protected from predators and the weather while eating.
If you also want to create the posture yourself, you can, for example, make a feeding station out of a halved coconut shell, a clay plant pot or a used cup and an improvised perch.
If you don't have anything like that at hand, you can also spread the mixture on tree trunks.
The birds also like other homemade bird snacks such as apples on a stick or classic suet balls.
It makes sense to offer both grain eaters and soft food eaters a range of food in order to attract as many different species as possible.
