Four Japanese cherry trees were cut down very early this Monday morning on the town hall square, renamed Jacques-Chirac, eternal lover of the land of the Rising Sun, just after his death in October 2019. They were right in front of the town hall.

They had been planted in the 1960s and were approximately 70 years old.

They will therefore no longer flower in spring.

Originally there were eight of them and for ten months only four.

The town hall commissioned two expert opinions.

“The first recommended cutting four or five out of the six.

The second advised cutting five, specifying that the sixth risked falling in the event of strong wind.
