No winter in sight: Baden-Württemberg is currently experiencing spring-like February days.

While there is no snow, the weather forecast promises temperatures well above average for this time of year.

Stuttgart – Temperatures that are far too high, rain and up to 17 degrees: After a mild start to February, there is no trace of winter in Germany in the rest of the month.

“It has been significantly too warm for the current season for three weeks,” explains qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung from

wetter.net

with a view to the weather developments.

“If things continue like this, some places won’t even have night frost this February.” The expert speaks of an “extremely mild winter” with “early spring weather”.

Even in Baden-Württemberg, winter weather has little chance.

Temperatures of up to 20 degrees were already announced in the region last weekend.

“And it will be significantly milder again this week,” predicts Dominik Jung.

It could also rain then.

A look at the average temperatures in February since weather records began in 1881 shows: “February 2024 has an average temperature of over 6.0 degrees Celsius and is therefore at the forefront when it comes to the warmest February months ever recorded.”

According to Jung, there is no cooling in sight for the time being - on the contrary: "On Ash Wednesday (February 14th) a wave of warmth will wash over to us from Western Europe." Meanwhile, spring has already broken out in neighboring France: there the temperatures on the thermometer have already climbed to 15 up to 20 degrees.

According to the expert, it could even reach 22-23 degrees in the south of France in the coming days.

“Due to the mild air that is coming to us, 11 to 15 degrees are also expected in Germany.”

It will be even warmer on Thursday (February 15): “Double-digit values in the range of 11 to 17 degrees will be seen almost everywhere in Germany,” says Jung.

Only in the north does it stay a little cooler at 4 to 8 degrees.

“These temperatures actually only fit into the overall picture at the end of March or beginning of April.” It will also be “very mild” on Friday (February 16th) with temperatures around 10 to 17 degrees.

“So the mild winter is really turning up again.”
