The substance is normally used to anesthetize elephants and rhinos - now it has also been found in Munich.
Munich - The drug “Carfentanyl” was first registered in Germany in 2016.
Now the police in Munich also secured the highly dangerous substance.
The discovery happened a few weeks ago: In December of last year, two people were checked in a park in Bogenhausen.
One of the two people was then found in possession of drugs, which appeared to be heroin.
The 54-year-old then received a criminal complaint on suspicion of an offense under the Narcotics Act (BtMG) and the drug was seized.

As part of the investigation by experts from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office, it was now determined that the drug contained carfentanyl.

An overdose can lead to numerous dramatic side effects, including respiratory depression, which can lead to death.
Carfentanyl has a pain-relieving effect that is 7,500 times stronger than the powerful painkiller morphine.
According to the police, the anesthetic and euphoric effect occurs very quickly, but a fatal overdose can never be ruled out.
The Munich police therefore expressly warn against the use of the drug, which has been seized more and more frequently in Europe in recent years.
Dozens of deaths have already been registered so far, including in countries such as Sweden, Belgium and Estonia.
