The weather caused the Pastetten carnival parade to shrink on Sunday.

Nevertheless, there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the town center - and the visitors were in a good mood.

Pastetten – The fact that the carnival hustle and bustle in Pastetten would not attract so many costumed carnival fans to the center of the town was actually to be expected since the morning when the view fell on the rainy sky.

But the Pastetteners surprised everyone with their presence.

Along with the rain, more and more guests flocked to the Gaudi Center at the Maypole, where the small parade that had been announced for weeks started right on time.

This year, however, only four other cars rolled between the two fire engines used for security purposes.

The fact that the Gaudiwurm was still quite long was probably due to the boys' car with the motto "Back to the future - when I come home, I'll be back", who had designed an almost 17 meter long truck with a trailer (we reported ).

The young people from the dirndl and boys' communities romped around here and made a lot of steam from the smoke machine.

“At least we have a roof over our heads and don’t get wet,” said boy boss Andi Wagner dryly.

The vehicle of Andreas Winner, who had packed an old sailing boat on his trailer this year, also matched the “wet”.

“The ship of fools never sinks,” proclaimed a lettering on the side.

“We already had the motto 20 years ago when the parades started,” explained Winner.

His friend Jo Köhler was on board as captain, his daughter Karolina drove along with enthusiasm, and Ludwig Schmid drove the train car.

Gerhard Nußrainer and his friends didn't let the rain deter them either and got their trailer, which was traditionally decorated with sayings, into position.

“Dreams also burst into pasties,” proclaimed a poster that sat on the roof of the tractor with a Pezzi ball.

The car decorated with balloons announced provocative things like “Misselecting used to cost 23 pfennigs – today existence” as well as a reference to the dreams that had not come true “town hall clubhouse, skate park, assisted living, recycling center...”.

There was no question for Nußrainer that he and his fellow campaigners would come to the parade despite the weather: “What should we do with all the things that we wanted to bring to the people?

“It’s all just getting old, it doesn’t have to be that way,” he said mischievously.

So there were plenty of chips, popcorn and other treats for the spectators from the friends' car from Katterloh.

The damp weather couldn't stop this group of ladies from Pastetten in blue and orange from celebrating happily.

The yield for the guests on the side of the road felt immense this year anyway, and the children in particular were busy collecting.

Some people were so clever (or experienced in moving) that they used their upside-down umbrella to catch the guttis.

Why not, the umbrella had to be there anyway.

“The whole thing is for the children,” said Thomas Unterrainer, explaining why his troop took part in the carnival procession.

The head of the Almenrausch Pastetten shooting club also personally drove the Eicher tractor that pulled the car.

On top of that there was a group of children who were clearly having fun throwing candy.
