The criminals will not have had time to take advantage of their brand new iPhones.

Less than four hours after the robbery of the Bouygues Telecom store in Pontault-Combault, the stolen state-of-the-art smartphones were recovered with a view to being returned to the store installed in the Carrefour shopping center near the N 4. They were found at the home of one of the two suspects arrested this Monday noon by the police and placed in custody at the Torcy police station.

For them, everything started off pretty well.

Around 9 a.m. this Monday, two men came to park a utility vehicle in the shopping center parking lot.

Dressed in Chronopost bibs, they head towards door D of the shopping mall, towards the Bouygues Telecom telephone store which is due to open at 9:30 a.m.

Their faces hidden by surgical masks, they present themselves as delivery men before one of them displays a tear gas canister to demand that they be given high-end smartphones.

A loot estimated at 75,000 euros

In a few minutes, the duo got their hands on nearly 70 iPhones, the value of which is estimated at 75,000 euros.

To cover their escape, they do not hesitate to use their gas against the manager and employees.

Very quickly, the center’s security headquarters alerted the police.

After rapid investigations, investigators from the local judicial police service at the Torcy police station managed to find the trace of the criminals.

They go to an apartment, located in the north of Seine-et-Marne, where the smartphones are discovered.

Two people, aged around thirty, one of whom is known to the police, are brought back to the police station to be placed in police custody.

These two suspects could well suffer the same fate as those who attacked a Bouygues store in Venette in Oise on December 3, 2023. That day, two 18-year-old young people from Seine-Saint-Denis had stole 175 smartphones in the company of minor accomplices.

Arrested shortly after the events, they were sentenced a month ago to thirty months in prison.

On the other hand, the four individuals who robbed the Bouygues sign at the Carré-Sénart shopping center on November 12, again under the threat of a tear gas bomb, are still believed to be at large.

The quartet left with around a hundred iPhones.
