The highlight of the Cologne Carnival takes place on Rose Monday (February 12, 2024) and runs from the Severinstorburg through the entire city center of Cologne from 10 a.m.
But where exactly does the train route lead?

The start of the train should pass through Schildergasse at around 11 a.m., and at around 12:30 p.m. it will reach Breite Straße after a detour over Rudolfplatz.
At 1:24 p.m. he is supposed to walk along Cologne Cathedral before the first cars arrive at Mohrenstrasse at around 1:51 p.m. and reach their destination.

The Cologne Carnival festival committee explains: “The annually changing session motto is reflected throughout the procession; popular and current topics from politics, sport and business, but also society and city life are parodied on the satirical car,” it continues.

The Rose Monday procession in 2023 started in Deutz - in 2024 it will run exclusively on the left bank of the Rhine.

These are usually elaborately designed and have also taken up (global) political contexts in recent years.

Will it be broadcast on TV?
The Rose Monday procession is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The first car is scheduled to arrive at its destination at 1:51 p.m.
Then the last cars just started.
It takes several more hours until the train is completely through.

Restricted zones at the Cologne Rose Monday procession in Cologne
There is also a safety zone this year, this time on and around Wallrafplatz at the cathedral.
The Cologne Carnival Festival Committee announced this in advance.
“The direct proximity to the main train station makes the location a hub for visitor flows.
Since the space around Wallrafplatz is very limited and the safety of everyone involved is the top priority at all times, the area between Comedy Street and Minoriten Street is a safety zone on Carnival Sunday and Shrove Monday,” it continues.
The entrances will be closed if the number of spectators is too high.
Residents can gain access at any time by showing their ID card; tickets for events in the restricted area are also considered access rights.

Due to the toll, there will be numerous closures and KVB disruptions on Shrove Monday.
“The areas will be opened step by step after the track has been cleaned,” said the festival committee.
Additionally, several KVB lines are affected:
KVB line 1:
From 9:30 a.m. to around 5 p.m., operations between Neumarkt and Heumarkt will be separated on the “east-west axis”.
The KVB then only runs from the right bank of the Rhine with passengers to the Heumarkt stop and back.
From 12 noon, all lines for passengers from the right bank of the Rhine end at Deutzer Freiheit.
From 9:30 a.m. to around 5 p.m., operations between Neumarkt and Heumarkt will be separated on the “east-west axis”.
During the “separation” period, the end or start stop for lines 1, 7 and 9 on the left bank of the Rhine is Neumarkt.
KVB line 7:
From 9:30 a.m. to around 5 p.m., operations between Neumarkt and Heumarkt will be separated on the “east-west axis”.
The KVB then only runs from the right bank of the Rhine with passengers to the Heumarkt stop and back.

The light rail line coming from Chorweiler ends at the Ulrepforte stop.
KVB line 16:
The line will be closed above ground at Chlodwigplatz on Shrove Monday from 9 a.m. to around 3:30 p.m.
The light rail line coming from Niehl ends at the Ulrepforte stop.
Line 16 coming from Bonn uses the route of line 17 from the start of operations and ends at the Severinstrasse stop.
KVB line 17:
The line is being discontinued, but line 16 runs here.
Kartäuserhof stop:
It is “enclosed” and remains closed until the end of the train.

According to the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee, there is currently no reliable forecast for participation in the Rose Monday procession on February 12th.
Because the Zoch lasts several hours.
And the rocking of the car could become a problem for the carnivalist's ailing hip.
At most he can survive the Zoch sitting on a chair.
Only on Sunday evening will it be decided whether Jungfrau Frieda can take part.
