The municipality of Sderot announced today (Monday) that the government has given permission in principle for residents to decide whether to return to the city at the end of February or stay in hotels until July.

Every resident of the city will be able to stay in the hotels or receive an occupancy grant until July of this year.

Regarding the amount of grants that the residents who return to Sderot will receive, it is written that discussions are still taking place on the subject and the amount has not yet been determined.

In the announcement, it was stated that "the mayor insists that these grants will be appropriate and will provide an adequate response both to residents who will choose to stay outside the city in the near future and to those who will return to it."

It is important to note that the decision on the agreed outline depends on the Prime Minister's approval.

"The time has come, the economy of Sderot needs to be stimulated," said Yogev, a resident of the city.

"We need to return to the city, the solution is not evacuation, but an image of our victory, the return of the kidnapped and the achievement of the city of Sderot."

Will it open again soon?

The Municipality of Sderot stated that the educational frameworks from the areas to which the residents were evacuated will be closed starting Monday next week, and those who chose to stay in hotels will have to find independent educational solutions.

"At the request of the municipality, the Ministry of Education undertook to open a call center for the families who will remain outside the city in order to assist them in finding educational solutions."

Moran Hila Madmoni, a resident of the city, was angry at the decision to close the frameworks that served the evacuees until now.

I feel that the state does not provide a solution and drags its feet," said Madamoni. "The Minister of Education informs us that they are closing educational facilities in hotels, so what will the families who choose to stay in hotels do?

There is no educational solution for those who will remain."

"The residents are in a dilemma, it's a kind of trap and the state got us into this trap two weeks ago," said Uri Gabbai of Sderot. "This means that families in Eilat will be without frameworks, and therefore it will force some residents, including me, to return to the city involuntarily."

Gabay continued to ask about the early return to the city, that there is still no word on when the situation will return to normal. "There is still no complete security," he said. "If there is an alarm, will they cancel the classes in Sderot again?

It is still too early to return Sderot to full operation.

We need to make decisions and not deal with us in a zigzag manner, have you made a decision to close the hotels?

shut up
