An 18-year-old from Berlin is missing.

Four days later she was found in an apartment in Kinzigtal.

What happened?

Lahr/Berlin - An 18-year-old Berlin woman was allegedly kidnapped by a vacationing acquaintance in Baden-Württemberg, held for several days and raped.

A 22-year-old suspect is in custody.

The young woman was found on Friday in an apartment in Kinzigtal, police and public prosecutors in Offenburg said on Monday.

The 18-year-old had been missing from her family and friends since last Tuesday.

According to initial investigations, the woman had met a 22-year-old from Lahr in the Black Forest before she disappeared.

The two had met on a previous vacation and arranged to meet at the 18-year-old's apartment in Berlin - but then the young woman disappeared.

In her apartment, the suspect is said to have threatened the 18-year-old with a weapon and tied her up.

He then drove with her to Kinzigtal and held her in an apartment against her will.

There he is said to have raped her several times.

The police investigation in Berlin ultimately led, among other places, to the Ortenau region.

Officials from the Offenburg police headquarters checked various reference points, the statement said.

Finally, officers from the Haslach police station searched the apartment in which the woman was locked up.

They arrested the 22-year-old and freed the young woman.

They also found a blank pistol in the apartment, which was confiscated.

Investigators did not initially say where exactly this apartment was located.

The 18-year-old was medically examined and then cared for at Offenburg police headquarters.

The alleged perpetrator was brought before a judge, who followed the application for a pre-trial detention order.

The man has been in custody ever since.

The investigations by the police from Berlin and Offenburg are ongoing.

The public prosecutor's office did not provide any information as to whether the alleged perpetrator had already testified.

The investigators initially did not provide any information about how the 18-year-old is doing and whether she is back in Berlin.
