It was raining, smoking and booming with loud music on Sunday afternoon, so that you could still hear it as far as the town of Moosen, five kilometers away: after five years there was a carnival parade in Taufkirchen again.

An estimated 3,500 spectators and another 700 participants from all over the area didn't miss this.

Taufkirchen – Most of the places on the side of the road were already occupied an hour before the start.

Some were lucky and were able to make themselves comfortable, i.e. dry, under canopies.

The samba percussion formation Safado Street Groove from Freising, hired by the community, ensured the right rhythm.

Despite the terrible weather, the spectators had a lot of fun as the 45 pedestrian and car groups passed them on the B15 towards the B388 and back again.

It got tight between the turnoff to the parish center and Attinger Straße.

Not only could the spectators on the sidewalks touch the vehicles, but the cheerfully singing and hopping passengers on the tall cars could also toast those oncoming.

Sweets were coveted by young and old and were generously thrown among the people, a lot of it landing hard on people's heads, but also a lot in the gutters and crushed by the tires on the streets.

The carriages and foot groups were colorful and diverse, led by the royal couple Theresa I (Sinseder) and Markus I (Stein).

From the light green and purple grapes with inflated balloons that members of the local history and beautification association had tied around their bodies, to Super Mario karts made from Styrofoam that the Taufkirchen fire department rode on.

Their boss, Christian Holler, was satisfied: “The whole train ran smoothly and happily.” Safety was ensured with 24 men, including comrades from Gibensbach, Moosen and Wambach.

The Hofkirchener Wehr had to cancel because its members took part in many groups.

They vented their anger: “Multi-purpose hall – cost trap” was written on their car or “A great building, you can see it.

Will the Gmoa go bankrupt now?” Ultimately, they have to postpone the urgently needed construction of a new tool shed for cost reasons.

The middle school and many students and teachers were also committed to the construction site.

“The money invested in schools pays the highest interest,” it said ironically on the board of school principal Ade Geier, or “We san d'Mittelschui, und auf da Bausite san ma dahoam” on student banners.

The multi-purpose hall was viewed critically with this vehicle.

A cost trap?

Hofkirchen's firefighters had thought about this.

Some also made fun of the federal politicians, and the KJLB even wanted to fly to another planet because of inflation.

Many people were most impressed by Lok Emma, the “Schädlweh Express – next stop Delirium”.

The story: During a vacation in Mallorca, ten friends from the area met the previous owners of the vehicle.

They bought the 17 meter long locomotive, which is built on a normal agricultural trailer, made of wood on the outside and steel on the inside, Leonhard Schwaiger from Grüntegernbach told our newspaper.

The boys spent six weeks restoring the locomotive in 800 hours.

“Now we want to look after and preserve them and take them to carnival parades,” he explained.

“Because we can steer both axles, we can get around every curve.”

Some cars also advertised upcoming festivals or recruited employees or young people.

The audience liked it.

Rakovac Mehmedalija (53) said: “I'm really happy that something is going on again.

A lot of people are having a really difficult time at the moment, but this is a bit relaxing.

I really liked the locomotive.

This is crazy work.

You need cohesion.

I think that’s what’s so beautiful about it.”
