Two days have passed since the fire at the Edesur Substation in Caballito, which left more than 60,000 users in the City of Buenos Aires without electricity.
Between anger and fatigue, many continue to complain about
the lack of supply in their homes
.
In the early hours of this afternoon, under heavy rain,
a group of neighbors demonstrated
on Directorio and Viel avenues to demand a solution, beyond the provision of generator sets.
Clarín
was able to confirm with Edesur that there are
6,257 users
who still do not have the service specifically due to the incident.
“Good morning, in Riglos and Directorio we have been almost without electricity for 2 days. Nearby streets have supply. Is anyone else in the same situation? Are any class action claims being initiated?”
, is one of the many messages that at this time are displayed in the organized neighborhood groups of Caballito.
In that space, there are many users who continue to leave their addresses, consulting and clarifying that
they are still waiting for the return of light
and, in some cases, also, water.
“Neighbors grouped in Viel and Directorio, we can't take it anymore, let's continue!”
is another of the messages.
At noon, despite the heavy rain, residents began to arrive at the intersection of these two streets.
Some of them pointed out that the generators installed in the area would not be providing the necessary energy for the homes.
During this morning, Edesur had reported that its technical teams were continuing to work to normalize the entire supply in the area.
Early in the afternoon, they clarified to
Clarín
that
they had not yet been able to enter the damaged substation
to finish reorganizing the service and begin the repair.
The company highlighted that a special operation is being maintained for
the installation of large generating equipment
and the care of electrodependents together with Civil Defense.
To those own or rented generators that they have – and that have already been installed or are being installed – others were added in collaboration with other companies.
Edesur operation in Caballito due to the fire of an electrical substation.
“Due to an urgent need, we went to the distributors that we know have equipment: Edenor, Epec de Córdoba, they are also sending us from other provinces in the interior.
The only thing they do is lend us the generating sets, but the Edesur technicians connect them,” they noted.
When asked by
Clarín
in reference to the cause of the substation fire, the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) stated that it was caused by a crew that was carrying out scheduled tasks at the site and, added in this regard, that during those works "the human presence forces the fire system to be disconnected because it emits CO2 which is lethal."
At 4:45 p.m. this Monday, there were
26,808 users with power outages in general
in the AMBA (20,790 from Edesur and 6,018 from Edenor).
At the closing of this note, Edesur was awaiting authorization from firefighters and justice to enter the substation.
Lack of water, the other problem
From Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos (Aysa) they confirmed to
Clarín
that the Caballito lift station, the same one that is a few blocks from the site of the fire, “has already been operating normally since early this morning, and
the network is being pressurized little by little
” .
Late Sunday afternoon, Aysa had run two pumps to connect its mobile power substation.
With that they stated that service would be completely restored during the following hours.
Caballito: fire, thousands of users without electricity and without water.
“From the almost 5,500 complaints we had until yesterday before the pumps were put into operation, we have now
dropped to less than 500 complaints
,” they said.
In addition, they explained the reason why not all of the affected area has the supply at the moment.
They stated that although the elevator pumps were turned on, they have not been able to raise the pressure that the network normally has.
This is due to the water pressure that could be exerted on the pipes, with the risk of breaking them.
For this reason, they expressed, "there may be areas of Flores, Floresta, or some area further away from the Caballito elevator that still lacks water, because it will take a little longer to arrive."
