It was the snack break that made him take a dive.

A 30-year-old man living in a squat in Cachan (Val-de-Marne) has just been sentenced to twelve months in prison with a committal warrant by the criminal court of Versailles (Yvelines).

He was on trial there at the end of last week for a burglary committed in October 2023 in a house in Fontenay-le-Fleury.

The Versailles scientific police technicians found his DNA... on bags of candy, consumed on site that day.

Similar traces were noted on a bottle and on the bay windows of the pavilion.

On October 21, a resident of this town near Versailles returned home after ten days of absence.

His house was broken into.

Several items, including jewelry, have disappeared.

The damage is estimated at 13,000 euros.

He was known to the police under another identity

The readings carried out by the scientific police are analyzed by investigators from the local judicial police service (SLPJ) of Plaisir.

They make it possible to identify a homeless man who is unfavorably known to the police, under another identity.

The suspect was questioned at the end of January by the Kremlin-Bicêtre police officers (Val-de-Marne), for a home invasion case.

During their investigations, the investigators discovered that he lived in a squat in Cachan with his pregnant partner.

This lead is confirmed by the geolocation of his cell phone.

The man was arrested on Wednesday February 7 and presented in immediate appearance the next day, at the end of his police custody.

He denied being the perpetrator of the burglary, ensuring that he had only entered the house to sleep there.

The stolen items have not been found.
