The “Back to the woods” festival will not take place on the TUM campus in Garching this year.
The organizers are looking for an alternative location, but there is none in sight yet.
Garching – In recent years it has attracted thousands of visitors: the “back to the woods” festival in Garching.
This year it won't take place for the first time.
The organizer Kellerkind announced via social media that dancing to electronic music will not be possible on the Garching campus this summer.
The Technical University of Munich no longer makes the area where the festival has been taking place since 2013 available due to staff shortages, explains Kellerkind managing director Leo Rebay when asked.
The company looked for other locations.
“But it’s not that easy.
The area must be beautiful, well connected and not near a residential area.” If something is found – even outside of Garching – the festival should live on.
The good news: The “Schall im Schilf” festival, which is also organized by Kellerkind, will take place this year, as usual, at Lake Garching.
Advance sales for the festival at the end of July start on Sunday, February 18th.
“We are now putting our energy and motivation into the preparations for Schall im Reed 2024,” writes the Kellerkind team on its social media channels.
