The glowing advertising board on Königsdorfer Straße always attracts criticism - as was the case at the most recent meeting of the city council's building committee.

The city council is dissatisfied.

The advertising televisions on Königsdorfer Straße should remain the only ones in the city.

The building committee wants new rules

Wolfratshausen – The billboard on Königsdorfer Straße continues to spark discussions.

The facility, on land next to the Shell gas station, has been criticized by environmentalists, distracted drivers and some city councilors.

The topic came up again at the most recent meeting of the building committee.

The city would like to learn lessons from the advertising fiasco for the future.

No “Vegas strip” in Wolfratshausen: neon signs continue to cause discussions

Dr.

Hans Schmidt made a question at the meeting.

He had recently contacted the mayor (we reported).

The city council's environmental officer wanted to know two things in his written question: Who approved the panel?

And whether that was even legal.

He asked questions in the meeting.

It is now clear that the advertising screens were ultimately approved by the district office - the district authority generally has the final say on construction projects.

However, the city had previously given its consent “through administrative channels” (Heilinglechner).

The facility was not discussed in the building committee.

But even if it had, the committee would probably hardly have been able to say no.

Colorful advertisements: Clear regulations apply in Wolfratshausen

Colorful advertisements in Loisachstadt are regulated in black and white: an advertising system statute applies.

As it became known at the meeting of the building committee, the facility on Königsdorfer Strasse complies with the regulations - even if hardly any of the city councilors who voted for the statutes at the time liked that.

“It was so approvable,” explained administrative employee Nico Sens. Richard Kugler (Wolfratshauser List) boiled down the sticking point to a simple formula: “Our statutes are overwhelmed by this.” They deal with regulations for advertising boards.

“And those on Königsdorfer Strasse are televisions.”

XXL television on Königsdorfer Straße - The ad has been officially approved

Flashing systems are prohibited in commercial areas - construction expert Sens said: “There is a discrepancy between flashing and lighting.” The XXL television on Königsdorfer Straße lights up.

And within a framework that is permitted.

As Heilinglechner explained, the ad does not violate the emissions regulations that apply in the district.

The size was also not an obstacle.

Heilinglechner: “We have several systems of this size – the difference is that they don’t light up.”

Wolfratshausen wants to take action: measures against further giant advertising are planned

If the council wants to prevent similar models in the future, the advertising system statutes must be adjusted, explained the town hall boss.

But that is too late for the billboard that is already up.

Schmidt feared that the system could be used as a precedent - that is, he was worried that the city would not be able to reject new applications for similar video advertising because the one on Königsdorfer Strasse was allowed to continue to shine.

“Then we’ll get Las Vegas conditions here.”

Mayor Heilinglechner feared neither the threat of a Vegas strip look nor a legally binding decision.

“For future cases,” the administration and the committee could work on the advertising system statutes again.
