Elon Musk's position on the war in Ukraine has always been ambiguous.
If the billionaire delivered several thousand Starlink terminals to kyiv, allowing troops to have access to the Internet, he also proposed that the country cede territories to Russia to obtain peace.
Monday February 12, during a
“space”
organized on his social network X, the American billionaire this time affirmed that there was
“no chance”
that President Vladimir Putin would lose the war.
The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX was responding to Republican Senator from Wisconsin Ron Johnson, who believed that those who saw Ukraine one day emerging victorious from the conflict
were “living in a fantasy world”
.
Several other elected Republicans participated in the conversation, including Ohio Senator JD Vance and Utah Senator Mike Lee, who have long opposed providing additional aid to Ukraine.
Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was also among the speakers.

Controversial statements and positions
Like his guests, Elon Musk declared himself against the Senate bill aimed at providing an additional $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.
“This spending does not help Ukraine.
Prolonging the war does not help them
,” he insisted.
This is not the first time that the billionaire has taken a position on the subject.
In October 2023, he published an ironic photo montage on X, supposed to show a very tense Volodymyr Zelensky, accompanied by the caption:
“When it has been five minutes since you asked for billions of dollars in aid”
.
Although the businessman deployed numerous Starlink satellites to help Ukraine at the start of the war, he now takes more controversial positions on the conflict.
Recently, Ukrainian intelligence, for example, accused Elon Musk of having delivered the system to Moscow, which he formally denies, as does the Kremlin.
In September, the billionaire also claimed to have prevented a Ukrainian attack on a Russian navy base by refusing a request from kyiv to activate Internet access via Starlink in the Black Sea, near Crimea annexed by Moscow.
In addition, Elon Musk is regularly accused of appeasement towards Vladimir Putin.
During his
“space”
Monday, he called the accusation
“absurd
,” arguing that his companies
“have probably done more than anyone to weaken Russia
. ”
During his long interview with American journalist Tucker Carlon, the Russian president expressed his admiration for the American billionaire, whom he described as
“an intelligent person”
,
“exceptional”
and a
“man of talented businessman
.
