The felling of trees along the railway track between Erding and Altenerding has begun on Parkstrasse.
The work, which a company is carrying out on behalf of the railway, should be completed by the end of February, said city spokesman Christian Wanninger when asked.
As reported, safety reasons are crucial because the treetops are too close to the S-Bahn power lines.
According to Deutsche Bahn specifications, a protective distance of at least five meters is required for trees that are more than four meters high.
This is not adhered to in the area of the city park, the Altenerding fire department and the underpass.
Around 20 trees are completely felled because they are no longer stable or break-proof.
