An American woman died last Friday in an armed attack on the tourist beaches of Tulum, Mexico, local authorities reported this Sunday.
The victim was injured after armed individuals chased a man, identified as 'Belize', to the beach after entering the Selina hotel restaurant shooting, local media La Palabra del Caribe reported.
The attack was directed against the man, who also died, and who is suspected of being dedicated to
drug dealer "and was allegedly part of a criminal group that generated violence."

The foreigner, identified only as Niko 'N', lived in Cancun and "has no connection with the deceased male," local media reported.
Two men have already been arrested as suspects in the crime, the La Palabra del Caribe outlet reported, citing the local Prosecutor's Office.
At the time of the attack, 'Belize' was carrying drugs, including cocaine, the media reported.
No further details have been released about the victim.

It is not the first time that foreigners have been caught in the crossfire in the southern state of Quintana Roo.
In 2021, two tourists were murdered in the La Malquerida restaurant after an attack by a group of hitmen.

Anjali Ryot, a systems engineer and influencer, and Jennifer Henzold, a German tourist, were the victims of that incident in which three other foreigners were also injured.
In 2022, two Canadian tourists were killed and another was injured while staying at a local hotel.
