This is the mix that, according to security experts at Trend Micro, will allow hackers to exploit generative AI in 2024 to launch more cyber attacks, with a greater probability of success.
In the latest report on forecasts in the field of cybersecurity for the coming months, the organization points the finger at advanced techniques which, for example, allow the so-called GenAi to create fake e-mail messages with a higher level of linguistic localization, such that it can deceive even the most experienced users and push them to click on links or open attached files that launch viruses and steal data.
"The widespread availability and quality of generative artificial intelligence will be the main cause of an epochal change in phishing attacks and tactics" explain by Trend Micro.
According to the company, "Cybercriminals could also corrupt the databases from which the AI models draw information" to pilot the platforms and use them as real cyber weapons at their service.
"It costs less than $100 to carry out an attack like this," they say.
The forecasts for 2024 therefore focus on generative artificial intelligence which will allow fraudsters to evolve social engineering traps into targeted attacks but also on the violation of cloud applications, which now represent a cleared modus operandi for storing and exchanging files, both by companies and private users.
