Driving a van, he tried to reach France via the ski slopes of La Thuile but was stopped and fined by the police.
The man, a twenty-four year old Belarusian, was noticed yesterday around 5.30pm above the Pont Serrand resort by the security officers on the ski slopes on duty on number 7 of the Espace San Bernardo ski area.
Regardless of the invitation to stop, he mounted snow chains on the Polish Renault Master he was driving to continue the climb.
Only after the arrival of the military from La Thuile station did the driver stop the vehicle and leave the slopes.
He underwent an alcohol test and tested negative.
The van was inspected and the textile material that was to be transported to France was found on board, also based on the documentation in the possession of the 24-year-old.
The driver was sanctioned for violating two articles of regional legislation regarding the use of ski slopes.
After paying what he owed - a total of 200 euros - he continued his journey towards France, this time via the permitted route of the Mont Blanc tunnel.
