Many businesses benefit from Valentine's Day.

But how do entrepreneurs spend their day?

For some it is a completely normal day, for others it is something special.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

– Some people hate it, for others it is one of the most beautiful days of the year: Valentine’s Day.

The lovers' festival next Wednesday will also have a positive impact on local shops.

But how do the local florists, restaurant operators and jewelers celebrate February 14th?

Florist Franziska Strobl prepares for a stressful day

On Valentine's Day, customers at the Geretsried flower shop “Stroblume” literally give each other the handle.

“If it weren’t so cold, we could leave the door open,” says boss Franziska Strobl with a wink.

“Of course, Wednesday will be stressful for my team and me, but for us florists that’s part of the deal.” Men who are looking for a gift as a token of love for their beloved no longer just ask for red roses.

“Colorful spring bouquets, for example, with tulips and freesias, are just as popular,” says Strobl.

Strobl: “For me a day like any other”

She comes out as not being a big fan of Valentine's Day.

“If I weren't a florist, February 14th would be a day like any other for me.” Instead of a romantic dinner, the self-employed person would be happy “when my husband takes time off and supports me with the flower deliveries.”

Strobl still gets a small bouquet from his husband.

“It doesn’t have to be anything big, for me it’s the gesture that counts.”

No chocolates on Valentine's Day

Sweet tokens of love in the form of chocolates are available at Café Schwarz.

But not for those who decide at short notice: the Lenggries store is closed on Wednesdays.

“Locals know this. Some people have bought their chocolates in advance,” reports owner Christian Schwarz.

“But some customers will definitely be standing in front of closed doors on February 14th.” His impression: “In our country, people aren't that crazy about Valentine's Day.” Black included.

Franco Amodio celebrates with his wife - maybe he cooks himself

The people of Wolfratshausen also stand in front of a closed restaurant on Wednesday at the Italian restaurant “Italy”.

“A few people have already called and wanted to reserve a table,” reports boss Franco Amodio.

Vain.

“I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my wife,” reveals the chef.

Either with a fancy meal in a restaurant – or Amodio gets behind the stove himself.

“I decide spontaneously.” The Italian is also unsure about the right gift for his loved one.

Work instead of a romantic dinner

“We only had jewelry, this year it has to be something different.

Maybe a cosmetics voucher,” he thinks.

“As a husband, you should be creative.” Karin Butschal-Krause from the Tölz jewelry store of the same name takes a very pragmatic approach: “I bought myself my Valentine’s present – a beautiful flower.” Otherwise, the jeweler has no big plans.

“My husband and I both have to work.” That’s why she looks after her enamored customers that day: “Silver hearts as necklace pendants always work.

But tastes are different.

Everyone works differently.”
