This investment of 5,950 euros is life-saving for the anemia disease “sickle cell anemia” that is rampant in eastern Uganda.

In the inherited disease, the hemoglobin changes and disrupts the transport of oxygen in the blood.

The donation from the Rotary Club of BW represents a milestone in the long-standing support of the Holy Innocent Hospital. Clinic director Moses Aisia was very pleased to thank the donation and emphasized that the facility was a significant step towards improved health care in the region .

Lofner-Meir also used her three-week stay at the clinic to train hospital staff in better nutritional care, especially for malnutrition and blood formation.

Carers, nurses, doctors and laboratory technicians took part in the collaborative teaching with group work with great commitment.

The fact that not only the wild plants growing there were used, but also a Swabian rice pudding dish was cooked was a real pleasure for the team.

Rotary President Corinna Hackenberg is pleased about the successful transaction and says that this was not the last support from Bad Wörishofen for Uganda.
