Asked about the recent convictions and arrests of identity activists, following knife attacks in particular, the prefect of Rhône, Fabienne Buccio, assured Le
Figaro
that she was continuing to amass grievances against two small identity groups in Lyon.
“I target the Remparts group, I target the Lyon Populaire group, I target everything that is extreme and violent for the security of the citizen
,” she confided.
Gérald Darmanin himself announced in December that the police and intelligence services were working to dissolve the Remparts group.
Born from the ashes of Génération Identitaire, itself dissolved by the Minister of the Interior in 2021, he recovered the La Traboule bar and the Agogée boxing gym in Old Lyon.
Premises described as a
“rear base”
by the deputy for this constituency, Thomas Rudigoz (LREM), who during the previous term led a parliamentary mission on the establishment of the ultra-right.

Residents “are afraid for their lives” according to the mayor
This request, made several times by local elected officials, from the left but not only, was renewed by the mayor of Lyon last week.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of the Interior, Grégory Doucet (EELV) mentions
“a neighborhood survey carried out by the union council”
among residents of Montée du Change where the Remparts premises are located.
“It appears very clearly that they are afraid for their lives and that of their children
. ”

The mayor of Lyon recalls the conviction of a former executive of the small group last week for a racist stabbing attack in the city center.
And the raid a few days later in identity circles as part of the investigation into the attack on a pro-Palestinian conference by around fifty violent activists in November.
“Since the commission of the facts, we have had to do all this investigative work under the authority of the justice system
,” explains Fabienne Buccio to Le
Figaro
.
These convictions will also help with the case we are building.
It’s incessant administrative and judicial work.”
To be pronounced in the Council of Ministers, the dissolution must meet very specific criteria.
In the case of the Remparts, the authorities are also working on a potential offense of reconstitution of a dissolved league, due to the parallelism of the forms with Génération identitaire.
From an administrative point of view, however, it is not easy to prove this reconstitution, the heads positioned in key roles having changed.
The request for dissolution was also made by the president of Lyon 3 University where certain activists are based.
A request repeated in the street this Monday evening during a rally at the initiative of the anti-fascist collective Jeune Garde, which claimed 700 participants.
