The
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
announced the 15 nominees for the 2024 edition of the awards, and the list includes from pop superstars
Mariah Carey
and
Cher
to classic rockers
Ozzy Osbourne
and Peter Frampton, plus Sinead O'Connor, Sade , Lenny Kravitz and
Oasis
.
The award has been given since 1986 and
is considered an important recognition of the career of artists
.
However, the Oasis singer exploded with anger when he found out about the possibility of being a finalist or being left out of this edition.
Liam Gallagher
published a first series of insults against the institution on his a nursing home."
Liam Gallagher, always controversial and mouthy, now protested against the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
And just as many speculated that Oasis could reunite to receive the award, Liam's words now make it seem impossible.
He even said "My little brother is sure he will attend because he loves being with famous people."
More nominees
Some nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had already been proposed on other occasions, for example
Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. and Rakim, Jane's Addiction
and
A Tribe Called Quest
.
Foreigner
and Kool & the Gang
are also nominated for the first time .
Osbourne is the only candidate who is already a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2006 as a member of the group Black Sabbath.

Cher recently made headlines by declaring that she would refuse to participate in an induction if elected, just as country star Dolly Parton said two years ago.
In December, Cher was on
The Kelly Clarkson Show
and said, “You know what, I wouldn't be in this right now if they gave me a million dollars... I'm never going to change my mind.
They can just say you know what themselves.”
O'Connor is the nominee who has been most on music fans' minds lately, and her death on July 26, 2023 certainly had an impact on voters.
O'Connor isn't the only nominee to have died recently.
Kool & the Gang lost drummer and co-founder George Brown less than four months ago, in November 2023 (Ronald “Khalis” Bell preceded him in 2020).

As for Peter Frampton, if he is a finalist it would have additional sentimental value, as the '70s rocker is currently on a farewell tour, performing while he can while suffering from the degenerative effects of inclusion body myositis (IBM). an autoimmune disease that affects your muscles.
When will the delivery be
Voting by Hall electors will take place from now until the finalists are revealed
at the end of April.
The ceremony will take place at a yet-to-be-disclosed date in September
, in Cleveland;
Like last year, it will air live on Disney+ and then be edited for an ABC special at a later date (with Hulu availability starting the day after the special airs).
Artists can only be chosen 25 years after their first record release.
