The musical revue in the Walpertskirchener Knirschvogelhaus - in keeping with the carnival - thrilled the audience.

Walpertskirchen – At the end of carnival, a musical revue is traditionally performed in the Walpertskirchener Knirschvogelhaus.

Anyone expecting a fireworks display of music and lyrics under the motto “Flights of Sparks” was not disappointed.

“We sparkle with all our senses,” promised host and presenter Vroni Vogel to the audience in the packed living/concert room.

In keeping with the theme, the actors wore flaming headdresses or neckpieces.

Sparks literally flew when host Dieter Knirsch hit the keys during the waltz improv.

The piece “You Fly” took the pianist back to his student days, and now the composition was intoned by the entire band.

The first shouts of Bravo rang out during the rousing Klezmer piece, as the song was still well known to many fans of bassist Stephan Glaubitz's former cult band Zwetschgendatschi.

The interaction between the thoroughbred musicians was magnificent - from Glaubitz on bass to Michaela Bauer on accordion and Katarina Farbová on clarinet, who were celebrated by the visitors - the spark was ignited from the start.

The piano pieces were an experience, whether played by the “fiery waltz king” Dieter Knirsch or his son Quirin Vogel, the “pianist with the flamethrower fingers”.

A comedic highlight was offered with the singing piece “Vergebliches Ständchen” by Johannes Brahms, in which Thomas Ross wanted to charm his beloved, played by Vroni Vogel with a blonde curly wig, on the “balcony”, but she remained steadfast and was together with her singing admirer frenetically cheered.

The audience was also asked to find out in which time the following piece was played.

Despite bassist Glaubitz's valuable advice, thinking about “Panama - Cuba - Cuba”, the solution was not easy... In any case, it was hard to escape the rhythm in 7/8 time, Glaubitz's bass, Bauer's accordion and Farbová's rarely played bass clarinet.

“Dieter Knirsch's feel for snow” was used in the “Schneelahner Waltz”; you could see the mountains sparkling in the light, and many people's hearts felt warm.

Although pianist Knirsch's birthday serenade for his wife Vroni is over ten years old, it still brought back emotional memories for her.

With a lot of humor and esprit, the presenter led through the colorful program, which also included an appearance by Maria Gaigl as “little Funkenmare”.

The entertaining evening was over far too quickly when it was said “the magical game is over”, but as a reward for the long-lasting applause, the musicians rained red roses as an encore.

A few audience voices also joined the chorus as the well-known hit hit.

But then hardly anyone went home, because the regular program at Knirsch-Vogel also includes the cozy part with a chat afterwards.
