Both your wallet and your glove box will gradually be emptied of their collection of administrative documents in favor of your daily companion, the smartphone.
After an experiment in the departments of Rhône, Hauts-de-Seine and Eure-et-Loir, the dematerialized driving license becomes a reality from this Wednesday for all French motorists who request it, we reveals the Minister of the Interior.
This digital driving license will appear in the Wallet tab of the France Identity application (iOS and Android) developed by the National Agency for Secure Titles (ANTS) and which has also passed its test phase.
In order to obtain it, you will first have to have, like more than 17 million people, the national electronic identity card (CNIe).
This physical CNIe remains the reference identity document because it authenticates a citizen thanks to its ultra-secure electronic chip.
You will then be able to obtain its digital clone and then complete your everyday (digital) certificates with this dematerialized driving license.
