And the town hall won its case.
After a long legal battle, the City of Paris achieved its goals by obtaining, this Tuesday, the closure of the website of the anti-abortion association “Les Survivants”.
The association became known last spring for having, on two occasions, led campaigns to denigrate the right to abortion by sticking hundreds of stickers on Vélib's.
In a press release, the municipality welcomed that “its first steps”, namely a complaint as well as an information campaign in the Parisian public space reaffirming the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy as a right fundamental, have succeeded.
When contacted, the domain name registrar of the association's site found “fanciful coordinates” which led to its closure.
The closure of this anti-#abortion site is a first big victory!

“The closure of the site of the small group Les Survivants is excellent news for women’s rights,” declared the mayor (PS) of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
After the association's collages last spring, the Paris town hall filed a complaint against "this disinformation site which endangers women, particularly the most vulnerable, their health and their most fundamental right to freely dispose of their body ".
In a context where deputies voted for the inclusion in the Constitution of “guaranteed freedom” for a woman to have recourse to an abortion, Anne Hidalgo sees in the closure of the Survivors site “a strong signal in favor of the equality between women and men.
The Paris town hall finally specifies that its “fight” against “The Survivors” will continue until the “dissolution of this collective” by the government.
