Will France win a new Olympic medal in basketball?

But before seeing the best basketball players on the planet compete in the north of France at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the draw will take place on March 19 in Mies, Switzerland.
To choose and distribute the teams for the women's tournament, FIBA called on Australian Penny Taylor, silver medalist in 2004 and 2008 with the Opals.
For the men, the honor will go to Carmelo Anthony.
The former winger and New York Knicks player, gold medalist with Team USA in 2008, 2012 and 2016, will be in charge of the drawing process.

The women's draw will bring together 12 teams at the Games: Germany, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, United States, Spain, France, Japan, Nigeria, Puerto Rico and Serbia.
The Americans are the big favorites of the tournament, since they remain on seven titles in a row.
With Marine Johannès and Gabby Williams, the French women will have their say, and will be in the hunt for a third medal, after silver in 2012 and bronze in 2021.

Among the men, France will have to fear many opponents, such as Germany, reigning world champion, Serbia, finalist of the last World Cup, Canada of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the United States and its five-star armada, Australia, but also Japan and South Sudan, surprise of the last World Cup.
The last four tickets will be awarded during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) which will be held from July 2 to 7.
Among the contenders, Slovenia, Greece, Spain, Italy and the Bahamas will try to validate their participation.

The draw will be based on the FIBA world rankings, but also according to the continents.
Ranking-wise, France and the women are in 3rd place, while the Blues are 9th among the men.
