Pensions will rise - as it currently stands, probably by 3.5 percent from July 2024. But a certain group should even receive 7.5 percent more.
Munich – German pensioners can be happy: from next July they should have more money in their accounts at the end of the month.
According to a current estimate, the amount will probably be 3.5 percent.
The final value will not be officially announced until spring.
Some recipients of disability pensions are to receive a particularly large increase.
Specifically, this affects around three million retirees - all those who will retire between January 2002 and June 2014.
You get 7.5 percent more.
However, if the pension started between July 2014 and December 2018, there is an increase of 4.5 percent.
The German pension insurance justifies this difference by saying that there were significant improvements in disability pensions for new entrants between 2014 and 2019 - that is, this did not apply to everyone whose retirement was earlier.
“The aim of the law is therefore to increase disability pensions for this group of people as well,” says the pension insurance company.
No need to apply for a pension increase
In addition to disability pensioners, according to the German Pension Insurance, “all recipients of a current old-age or survivor’s pension to whom such a disability pension was paid immediately before” should also receive a supplement.
The pension insurance emphasizes that the affected pensioners do not have to submit a special application for the increase.
Who is entitled to the plus and who is not is automatically checked.
The pension increase will cost the state budget around 1.3 billion euros more this year, and the federal government is planning additional costs of 2.6 billion euros for 2025.
