The market town of Holzkirchen held a volunteer reception for the first time.

Deserving citizens were honored for their commitment.

Holzkirchen – Volunteers in clubs and organizations do exactly what the state can no longer do.

Reason enough for the market town of Holzkirchen to honor deserving citizens for their commitment at a volunteer reception for the first time.

Premiere in Holzkirchen: Citizens honored for their commitment at the first volunteer reception

It was a colorful selection of around 170 invited guests who came to the market town's first volunteer reception in the ballroom of the Kultur im Oberbräu: Mayor Christoph Schmid immediately thanked everyone present for their outstanding work during his welcome.

“You are the pillars of our society and make a difference in the quality of life in our community.”

The idea for such a reception had been buzzing in the market town council's heads for several years.

In recent years, the corona pandemic prevented an earlier start.

Town hall boss Schmid emphasized that Annika Walther from public relations in the town hall and Barbara Brandlhuber, responsible for community affairs in the market town, gave a lot of effort to finally realize the reception this year.

“It was decided that three candidates should receive the badge of honor every year,” said Schmid.

“This year there were a total of twelve suggestions from citizens from which a jury had to select the three sponsors.

Anything but an easy task.”

Volunteer reception from the market town of Holzkirchen: Irene Stöberl – 30 years of work in the Holzkirchen hospice district

The three who were finally pinned on stage and presented with medals definitely earned the great applause of all the guests.

First, Irene Stöberl was honored for her 30 years of work in the Holzkirchner Hospice District.

“Irene is the pillar of our club,” emphasized laudator Countess Franziska von Drechsel and praised her as a “good soul of every company”.

Stöberl herself was more than touched and revealed that she accepted the honor for everyone involved.

“I’m actually just borrowing this medal,” she joked and received an extra round of applause.

Volunteer reception in the market town of Holzkirchen: Sybille König from the Holzkirchen Community Foundation

“There is nothing more enriching than providing help,” said the second prize winner, Sybille König, downplaying her remarkable commitment to the Holzkirchen Community Foundation.

Laudator Anke Bahr revealed, however, that König already had this unusual attitude at a young age.

As a little girl, she simply cut holes in her clothes to show solidarity with a poor Turkish girl against her gossiping classmates.

To this day nothing has changed.

Sybille König also tries to strengthen our civil society by bringing together people who need help and people who like to help.

Volunteer reception in the market town of Holzkirchen: Jutta and Stefan Dillig from the “Holzkirchen Helps” association

The third medal ultimately went to Jutta and Stefan Dillig, who have been working for the “Holzkirchen Helps” association for 30 years.

Laudator Wolfgang Huber, himself president of the association for many years, spoke about their empathy and their great heart for the cause.

The great willingness to donate locally is Jutta Dillig's main motivation for her work.

Her husband finally talked about phone calls “where someone burst into tears because their life was saved with a few hundred euros.

You don’t need much more motivation to just keep going.”

The many guests from a wide variety of clubs and organizations took the opportunity to exchange ideas over wine, beer and small delicacies long after the award.

The volunteer reception only confirmed once again the broad basis on which civil society in Holzkirchen is built and thus ensures an exceptional quality of life in the market town.
