Thousands of people in Berlin peacefully commemorate the murder of communist leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg.

But some participants suddenly attack police officers.

Now there is an accusation.

Berlin - Almost a month after riots at the commemoration of the communist leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, the Berlin public prosecutor's office has filed the first indictment.

She accuses a 25-year-old of serious breach of the peace, grievous bodily harm and resistance to law enforcement officers, as well as physical attacks on officers, as a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday.

The man is said to have targeted police officers in Berlin on January 14th and injured an officer.

According to the public prosecutor's office, he has been in custody ever since.

According to the investigation, the 25-year-old Dane is said to have belonged to a group of ten people who initially chanted anti-police chants on Remembrance Day in Berlin, it was said.

Then police officers were harassed and attacked.

The Dane is said to have hit the heads of three police officers several times with a two-meter-long metal rod and made stabbing movements with the rod.

A police officer is said to have injured his middle finger as a result.

When he was arrested, the man resisted.

One day after the riots, police chief Barbara Slowik told the Interior Committee of the Berlin House of Representatives that several demonstrators had “surprisingly and suddenly” attacked police officers with wooden slats and metal bars.

The police then defended themselves with pepper spray, among other things.

21 emergency services were injured and 5 had to stop their duties after being injured from severe beatings.

The murder of communist leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg on January 15, 1919 is commemorated annually in Berlin.

Red carnations are laid at the socialist memorial at the Berlin-Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery.
