Russian justice on Tuesday, February 13, sentenced on appeal to 5 years in prison a professor and political scientist critical of the government, Boris Kagarlitsky, tried for
“public calls to terrorism”
, Russian press agencies reported.
Initially sentenced in December to a fine of around 6,160 euros, Boris Kagarlitsky, professor at the Moscow High School of Social and Economic Sciences (HSE), saw this sentence replaced by five years in prison, during a trial in appeal to a military court in the Moscow region.
He was arrested in the courtroom, according to news agencies.
