Siena is the city where the most romance novels were purchased in 2023, followed in the rankings by Cagliari and Pavia.
It is the top ten revealed by Amazon.it for Valentine's Day, the celebration of lovers, drawn up on the basis of the number of per capita sales of both eBooks and paper books in cities with more than 50 thousand inhabitants during the last year.
Siena, the Tuscan province nestled in the hills, stands at number 1 in the top 10: whether it is for the suggestive color of the facades of roofs and buildings or for its timeless charm, the Siena people have just not been able to give up romance.
In second place Cagliari confirms its passion for sweet readings;
Pavia, on the other hand, has risen to third place and in 2023 will fly from the bottom of the rankings to the podium.
Fourth place is a new entry, Vicenza, whose inhabitants never give up a love novel on their bedside table.
Followed by Trieste, Gallarate and Milan.
Closing the ranking are the people of Sanremo in eighth place and two cities that return to the 2023 ranking: Padua and Verona, the city of love par excellence.
Among the most read paper books in 2023 in first place is 'Give me a thousand kisses' by Tillie Cole, the story of Poppy Litcheld who, at just 9 years old, decides to embark on the greatest adventure of her life: collecting a thousand capable kisses to make her heart explode.
Next, in second place, is ErinDoom's novel 'Manufacturer of Tears'.
'It starts with us.
We Are the Beginning of Everything' by Colleen Hoover ranks third: it is an intense story in which the protagonist meets her first love after years.
Great success also for 'Atlas.
Pa' Salt's story.
The Seven Sisters', the last volume of the beloved saga, and 'Crazy Lovers' by Felicia Kingsley, which closes the top 5 of the most popular books.
Among the most read eBooks, always present "Atlas. The story of Pa 'Salt. The Seven Sisters' in first place, followed by 'Manufacturer of tears' and 'Give me a thousand kisses'. In third place is the new entry 'Is it my fault?' by Mercedes Ron which recounts the vicissitudes of Noah, forced to leave her boyfriend and all her friends to move to California. This is followed by the novel by Anna Premoli, author of over 1 million copies, 'He who risks wins in love'.
