Gernlinden – This year’s carnival procession in Gernlinden was a family affair.
The fact that its 75th edition was rather manageable was of course due to the competition that comes from Moorenweis every four years.
“We have already noticed that clearly,” admitted Christian Kemether from the Gernlindner local cartel in his conclusion.
Nevertheless, he was satisfied.
“It doesn’t always have to be faster, higher, further and bigger,” says Kemether.
“It should be fun for everyone, the adults, the participants and us too,” he adds.
The main thing is that everything remained peaceful.
The approximately 2,500 spectators celebrated loudly around the community center, but without a row.
Lots of applause
The parade began with a demonstration by the kids from TSV Gernlinden.
They had rehearsed a little show especially for the anniversary procession - rewarded with lots of applause.
The participants also got a lot of the enthusiasm - even if there were only seven cars and six groups on foot that paraded through the streets of the Maisach district.
Focus on federal politics
Only the Gernlinden boys' association brings a touch of local theme to the train, which calls for a Kingdom of Gernlinden.
Otherwise, people tend to pay more attention to federal politics: “Once the country is ruined, it unabashedly governs itself as clowns,” proclaims the Gernlinden cellar club.
The Frisch Auf Graßlfing shooting club wrote a similar text: “Even the animals are getting too colorful, the government is ruining us.”
Thematic climax
The thematic highlight of the cars is the Gernlinden fire department, which lovingly and smugly takes care of the national soccer team.
“Eleven whistles on the field, only one European Championship hero is missing.” The message is clear: you don’t really trust your own team to pull off a summer fairy tale with a good ranking.

Small splashes of color
The foot groups also added visual splashes of color.
The group from Brother Konrad's parish took the word play on “altar native medicine” and knew how to attract attention with an oversized inhaler.
The Gernlinden Forest Guards had taken the railway strikes as their topic, while the women's carnival was “secret” with its bird and ostrich policy. In the end, Kemether was satisfied.
“It was a nice family carnival procession,” he said when asked.
The local cartel was even able to rely on the active support of the community.
Mayor Hans Seidl had joined the eager helpers who were traveling with the collection can.
