The corner of
Directorio and Viel
was the scene, on Monday morning, of the protest of a group of neighbors who
were still without electricity
two days after the fire at an Edesur substation in Caballito.
This Tuesday morning,
two large generator sets
were seen on the avenue .
They were the ones who had arrived on Monday and did not get going.
At 11 a.m.,
some 2,700 users in the Caballito and Parque Chacabuco area
were still without supply due to the fire.
According to the website of the National Energy Regulatory Entity (ENRE), for other reasons, and in other areas of the concession area, those affected were 7,783.
The Edesur company reported through different communication channels that it is placing
large generator sets
to provide service "while they begin the work of rebuilding the substation."
And they hoped,
by this Tuesday afternoon
, to restore service to all those affected by Saturday's accident.
In addition to the
equipment,
the care of electrodependents continues together with Civil Defense.
To those own or rented generators that they have – and that have already been installed or are being installed – others were added in collaboration with other companies.
“Due to an urgent need, we went to the distributors that we know have equipment: Edenor, Epec de Córdoba, they are also sending us from other provinces in the interior.
The only thing they do is lend us the generating sets, but the Edesur technicians connect them,” they pointed out when asked by
Clarín
from the electrical company.
And they added that they were in the process of installing another generator to resolve the lack of supply for more users.

Thousands of neighbors without power and firefighters are working to put out the fire.
There are 7 SAME ambulances.
When asked by
Clarín
in reference to the cause of the substation fire, the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) stated that it was caused by
a crew that was carrying out scheduled tasks at the site
and, added in this regard, that during those works "the human presence forces the fire system to be disconnected because it emits CO2 which is lethal."
From Edesur they said that the firefighters' task was finally finished and
"they were able to enter the substation
, but they have to do some safety tasks before operating."
And they exemplified that they must ensure that there is no danger of the roof collapsing, so as not to put the safety of the workers at risk.
Once these steps are completed, the company must
evaluate the level of damage to the facilities
and the time it will take to make repairs.

The residents of the area are all without electricity.
Firefighters work at the scene.
It happens in José María Moreno and Alberdi.
Regarding consumption, the company asked
for "responsible use"
since, as they explained, "there is still no final solution; load redistribution was carried out and there are several pieces of equipment installed that are supplying the substation that went out of service." .
The weather gave a respite, since if last week's heat wave continued, energy consumption would have been higher.
The ENRE, for its part, has already designated a group of experts to continue the investigation of the cause of the transformer fire, as well as a continuous guard of agents available on site to evaluate the actions of the distributor and the survey of the generating sets.
