A small bomb in the history of audiovisual law and a decision which questions the editorial freedom of the media.
This Tuesday, the Council of State asked the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) to once again put through the mill the editorial policy of CNews, the Canal + group's news channel which is now hot on the heels of BFMTV .
Arcom has six months to look again at Reporter Without Borders' appeal, which it had dismissed out of hand on April 5, 2022.
The association had criticized Vincent Bolloré's channel for ignoring pluralism of opinion and lacking independence vis-à-vis its shareholder, two obligations to which it is subject by its news channel agreement, in exchange of its authorization to broadcast on free DTT.
By the way, RSF criticized CNews for no longer being a news channel.
Rejected by the Sages of Quai André Citroën, RSF then turned to the Council of State…
