This is a civil security exercise carried out by the prefecture of Gironde and the sub-prefecture of Langon on February 14 and 15, in order to test coordination between state services in the event of an emergency.
This device will simulate
“a significant flood on the Gironde Garonne”
, by alerting people located near the river.
Entitled “
FR-Alert
”, this national alert and information system allows
“to warn in real time any person with a mobile phone of their presence in a danger zone in order to inform them of the behaviors to adopt to to protect yourself"
.
This notification may be accompanied
by “a specific sound signal, even if your cell phone is in silent mode”
.
The exercise carried out this time in Gironde will
“capitalize on the feedback from the overflows of 2021, by involving some of the most affected municipalities”
, details the Gironde prefecture.

Appropriate safety instructions
Six municipalities will be affected by this alert: Bourdelles, Fontet, La Réole, Floudès, Bassanne and Barie.
“This notification will not require any response or special sheltering behavior.
The safety instructions adapted to the fictitious event in progress will nevertheless be clearly specified, as will the mention “exercise” explicitly indicated in the message received on mobile phones
,” state services detail.
This department-wide safety test was initially scheduled to be carried out at the end of January, but it was postponed due to farmers' protests.
