Waiting for demolition: The Moar property is to be rebuilt.

For this purpose, the Herzogliches Brauhaus Tegernsee has planned a larger dimension.

This will be presented to the local council shortly.

Things will soon become concrete: The Herzogliches Brauhaus Tegernsee wants to present the municipality of Irschenberg with its plans as to what the new Gasthof zum Moar in Wilparting should look like and – above all – how it should be enlarged.

If everything goes smoothly, construction of the new building could begin in 2025.

Irschenberg – The way is actually clear.

Since Franz Köll vacated his former farm next to the pilgrimage church in Wilparting with the well-known Gasthof zum Moar at the end of 2023 - the move was the result of an out-of-court settlement - the Herzogliches Brauhaus Tegernsee could begin building a new bar.

As reported, the brewery leased the property for 99 years in 2021.

But demolition won't happen anytime soon.

Although there is a building permit for the new building, the brewery is planning to build a larger building than the community previously assumed.

“We are close to completing the planning,” says managing director Christian Wagner when asked by our newspaper.

The plans will then be presented to the local council in a timely manner.

Ideally, the building application could be submitted to the district office before the summer holidays.

In addition to the residential building, the threshing floor on the west side is also to be renovated.

“There is a lot of damage back there,” reports Wagner.

The slope and layer water is problematic and a contributing factor to the moisture in the walls.

“That’s why we want to take this into our own hands right away.”

Hall retained - larger room to be added

The new concept with the newly built parts of the building - only the hall in the middle is to be retained - provides for three pillars in addition to a few rooms for employees: hospitality, overnight accommodation and events.

For this purpose, a large hall for up to 120 people is to be created in the side part of the threshing floor on the upper floor.

The hall in the middle building for around 80 guests will remain.

There are also 20 guest rooms, which make the inn next to the neighboring pilgrimage church ideal for wedding parties.

According to Wagner, the plan is also to be able to operate the halls self-sufficiently, i.e. independently of the restaurant's main kitchen.

This would allow club and family celebrations to be self-sufficient.

Your own snack in the beer garden

It should also be possible to look after yourself in the beer garden.

The brewery feels connected to the tavern tradition, and this also includes the fact that you can bring your own snack in the beer garden, says Wagner: “We want to separate it into a small area with service and a larger one with self-service.” The snack you bring with you should be a comfortable place to eat contribute atmosphere.

“I imagine this would be nice to look at when guests serve their snack with their own tablecloth.”

Construction could begin in 2025

If everything goes smoothly, construction could begin in spring 2025.

As of today, construction time is estimated to be two years.

“Then we could open the doors in spring 2027,” hopes Wagner.

The new Moarwirt is intended to be a “down-to-earth restaurant” (Wagner) – in the current style of the house.

And the prices should be correspondingly down-to-earth.

The brewery does not want to comment on the price for the new building.

There is currently too much in flux: the local council has not yet issued a statement on the new plans, and therefore the scope of the work is not yet fixed.

And the prices in the construction sector are another thing.

Previous owner Köll had previously expressed concerns about the old linden tree, which forms a triangle together with the church and courtyard.

According to legend, the tree was already there when Marianus met his violent death in 697 AD.

The local saint himself is said to have planted them.

Since then, the old summer linden tree has also been a destination for many visitors.

Care for the linden tree, which is over 1000 years old

But the construction work could endanger the tree, Köll feared in our newspaper.

Civil engineering could have a negative impact on the water flow in the ground.

Wagner, on the other hand, does not see any major danger for the lime tree: “Of course we are careful, because we want to preserve the tree.” In addition, the new building will be professionally examined and supported by the Lower Nature Conservation Authority at the district office.

It is also unclear who should become the new Moarwirt.

“There are interested parties, but no decision yet,” reports Managing Director Wagner.

“That would be too early now.

The road that still lies ahead of us is too long.”

Until it is demolished, the recognized asylum seekers who the municipality has accommodated in containers on the terrace as false residents can also stay there.

Wagner: “That’s not a problem as long as no work is being done yet.”
